Dixie Carter announced there will be a new TNA World Championship tournament to determine who the next champion will be, replacing the departed AJ Styles. According to prowrestling.com on Nov. 1, the first round matches are set and all will have special stipulations.
The opening match of the tournament will see Jeff Hardy face off with Chris Sabin in a Full Metal Mayhem match. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it is pretty much the same as a tables, ladders and chairs match, which should prove to be an amazing match considering who is involved.
All other first round matches will also have special stipulations, decided by spinning the “Wheel of Dixie” to determine what stips they will be wrestled under. The other first round matches include James Storm vs. Bobby Roode, Austin Aries vs. Kurt Angle, and Magnus vs. Samoa Joe.
The winner of the Hardy vs. Sabin match will face the winner of Storm vs. Roode and the Aries vs. Angle winner will face the Magnus vs. Joe winner in the second round.
One thing to keep in mind is that, whoever wins this tournament will be the TNA World Champion, but AJ Styles is still out defending his world title and a unification match will probably take place in the future.
