TNA Impact Wrestling came back to the United States after a successful tour of Europe on March 7 with a huge show leading into their next big pay-per-view "Lockdown." Here is what went down on this live episode of "Impact."
The show started with Austin Aries saying that he was going to prove a point to start the show and called out Jeff Hardy. Hardy came out and Aries attacked him and the match started. The two turned in a fantastic 20-minute match that ended when Matt Morgan ran in and kicked Hardy in the head.
Aries was mad because he didn't get a chance to win the match because of Morgan. After the kick, Morgan dragged Hardy outside the ring and set his head against the ring post. He backed up to deliver the big boot but Bully Ray ran out with a chain and Morgan left.
After this, the cameras went backstage where Sting was talking up his Lockdown team, James Storm, Magnus, Samoa Joe and Eric Young.
Wes Brisco came to the ring next. He said his father and uncle called Kurt Angle the best wrestler they had ever seen and he believed it until he met Angle and then he realized Angle was worthless. That brought out Kurt Angle who said Wes was nothing like his father and uncle. Kurt said before he reveals the Aces & Eights VP, he will beat up Wes and he attacked.
Al Snow, D-Lo Brown and Bruce Pritchard came down and separated them. Then, out of nowhere D-Lo Brown kicked Angle in the groin. Brown was the man who voted to allow Wes to get his contract, so that makes sense on that level. Apparently, D-Lo Brown is the VP of Aces & Eights.
The two captains of the Lockdown teams, Sting and Devon, fought next. The match ended after a fan from the stands threw his drink in Sting's face and then Devon used the distraction to get the advantage and won with the Big Boot.
Danny Davis replaced Taz as the Gut Check judge. They eliminated Ivelisse Velez from the competition, so Lei'd Tapa (The Barbarian's niece) gets the chance tonight to win a contract.
Velvet Sky, Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero came out for the next match to fight Kazarian, Christopher Daniels and Gail Kim. This match includes two of the contending teams for the tag team title match at the PPV and the two women involved in the Knockout's title match. Gail Kim picked up the win for her team when she pinned Velvet Sky.
In the next match, Doc and Garrett Bischoff came out to fight Magnus and Samoa Joe. If the Aces & Eights win this match, they get the advantage at Lockdown. Magnus and Joe are former tag team champions but turned on each other last year, so this should be interesting. Joe and Magnus won with their old finishing move and then Joe smiled and it looks like they are on the same page.
Lei'd Tapa came out for her chance for a contract and she went off on the fans as they booed her. Danny Davis said yes. Bruce Pritchard took the time to pay honor to Paul Bearer (he is the man who introduced Paul Bearer to the WWE as Brother Love). Pritchard said no. She made her case (and was very rough on the microphone). Al Snow said yes to a round of boos.
In the main event, Cowboy James Storm fought Mr. Anderson. Whoever wins this match gets the advantage for their team at Lockdown. Aces & Eights came out and then the good guys showed up. This distracted Storm long enough for Anderson to hit the mic check for the win and advantage for Aces & Eights.
The show ended with Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan coming out to the ring and then his world title opponent came out in Jeff Hardy. The two shared a promo in the ring. Bully Ray mentions how much Hardy has come back from to get to this point and said he is proud of Jeff. Hardy then said he was proud of what Bully Ray has become. Bully said he has never been proud of himself and won't be until he beats Jeff Hardy.
Hulk Hogan came out next and said the winner Sunday will be the man who will lead TNA to the next level. Aces & Eights then attacked Hardy and Bully, but Team TNA ran out to save them and the show ended with a brawl between the two sides.
