TNA Impact Wrestling held their annual Genesis pay-per-view event on Jan. 13, with the main event featuring a three-way match for the TNA World Championship. Here is a look at the results from the big first PPV of 2013 for TNA.
The World Tag Team Championship opened the pay-per-view, as Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez took on Matt Morgan and Joey Ryan. The match has a history, with Morgan and Hernandez as former tag team partners and Joey Ryan as the arrogant new upstart. The match ended when Hernandez hit Ryan with a powerbomb and Chavo hit the frog splash for the three count.
Next up, Samoa Joe takes on Mr. Anderson, the newest member of Aces & Eights. The match lasted about 11 minutes and Aces & Eights member Mike Knox makes his way out to distract Joe so Anderson can get the win. Knox seems to have made a quick recovery from the hammer shots he took on Thursday night.
In the X-Division tournament finals, Christian York beat Kenny King in about 10 minutes with a cradle. York just made his return to TNA when he won a contract through the Gut Check and King is trying to make his name since arriving from Ring of Honor. After the match, King laid out York.
This led to York getting a shot at Rob Van Dam's X-Division title. The match was immediately following the previous match and York put up a fight but couldn't beat RVD, who won with the frog splash in six minutes.
Joseph Park got his big match with Devon from Aces & Eights next, a match where he was looking for revenge for the torture they put him through last year. The match had Park go crazy again and hit the Black Hole Slam, but before he could get the pin, he snapped out of it and Devon got the roll up for the three. Devon beat down Park after the match.
Next up was a Knockouts gauntlet match to determine the No. 1 contender. Gail Kim, ODB, Miss Tessmacher, Mickie James and Velvet Sky were the contestants. Velvet Sky won in about 11 minutes.
The next match determines who gets the next World Championship match as James Storm fought Christopher Daniels. In what has to be a shock, Daniels wins the match of the night in about 14 minutes and gets the championship match on the January 24 episode of TNA Impact.
Next up, Sting took on DOC from Aces & Eights and won in about eight inures with the Deathdrop. Aces & Eights surround Sting after the match, but Bully Ray saves Sting.
The main event was for the World Championship, an elimination match between Jeff Hardy, Bobby Roode and Austin Aries. Hardy pinned Roode in 19 minutes and then one minute later he hit the swanton bomb on Aries to win the match and retain his title.
