The running continues in the District 62 special election, and in this case Democratic nominee Ty Cobb ran from another public forum.
We've heard all about how pro-life Cobb is and how he gels well with social conservatives, and we are constantly hearing statements from our friends in the State Democratic Party and the House Democratic Caucus which have all but informed us that Cobb is essentially the Second Coming of Christ. Yet Cobb had a chance to shine in front of an audience of young people in an open public forum and he was not there. The previous excuse was that UPS wouldn't give Cobb the time off. Now we are told, Cobb was at a Right to Life meeting while the forum was taking place. As someone who has been active in the pro-life movement, I know that no reputable pro-life organization would want a candidate which they have endorsed to cut out on a public forum (or in Cobb's case, forums), where a large part of the audience(s) would likely share their pro-life views. Such events are to be seen as positive and prompt attendance would be encouraged-even at a place like the Webb School.
If there really were some good reason Cobb could not attend the Webb forum, such as attendance at some other public forum of some kind or other, the right thing to do is to send a campaign representative to the scheduled event to speak in Ty Cobb's stead. Surely he has people helping in his campaign who share his views on many issues, so why wouldn't he send such a person if he couldn't be personally present?
What is Ty Cobb trying to hide from the voters?

Comments
Actually, it was a training seminar sponsored by Bedford County Right to Life. Ty Cobb came in toward the end of the training in uniform when he finished working. The training was called the Art of Pro Life Persuasion. I wish Mr. Marsh would attend one so he can clarify his views on this vital subject. He is clearly confused, not informed or callous to this issue. That is sad in a strong pro life district
