Titus Welliver Brings The Town Alternate Ending to Boston

Highly underrated actor Titus Welliver was in Boston yesterday to promote a new version of The Town. The 2010 hit film is coming out with a 3-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Ultimate Collector’s Edition with extended cut and alternate ending on March 6th. AMC Boston Common screened this new version three times last night in a one night special event. Titus Welliver who plays FBI agent Dino Ciampa in the film, was at the 8 PM screening and was also on hand during the day when the corner of Tremont and Avery streets was renamed “The Town Take 2 Place”. The new street name was up for 24 hours in honor of the film.

Director/star Ben Affleck wasn’t able to attend because Mrs. Affleck (wife Jennifer Garner) is expecting another child. The three screenings did start with a video made by Affleck discussing what to expect in this new packaging. This new edition is the film Affleck himself prefers and wanted to show originally, but the theatrical version of course has to be audience friendly. The new film is much more grittier and has a darker ending and also highlights more of the city of Boston.

Titus Welliver’s Dino was Jon Hamm’s right hand man in trying to take down Ben Affleck’s crew including Jeremy Renner (who went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for his role in the Supporting category), rapper/actor Slaine and Owen Burke. If his name doesn’t ring a bell, Titus was also in the fantastic Sons of Anarchy playing Irishman Jimmy O’Phelan and as Jacob’s brother AKA the Man in Black in the television changing show LOST. He was also in Affleck’s directorial debut Gone Baby Gone and will be in Ben’s third film behind the camera, Argo. And I actually had the privilege to work with Titus on The Town playing an FBI Task Force Agent under his control during the Fenway Park robbery scene.

The new version can already be pre-ordered through Amazon. Look for it in stores on March 6th. And as always, you can follow me at www.Twitter.com/Murraymaker

Special thanks to the crew at AMC Boston Common for their support yesterday.
