Titans to play Wright St. in Horizon League Tournament semifinals

The University of Detroit Titans now have an opponent for tomorrow's Horizon League Tournament semifinal game in the Wright St. Raiders. The game will be played at 6 PM on Saturday at Valparaiso.

The Raiders, the #3 seed, defeated the #6 seed Youngstown St. Penguins, 66-59, Friday night at Valparaiso. Wright St. controlled most of the game and closed it out in the final minutes with free throws. Four Raiders scored in double figures, led by Miles Dixon who scored 14. The Raiders needed a balanced attack without one of their top players in Cole Darling, who is out for the season with a foot injury.

The #2 seeded Titans and the Raiders split the season series with each team winning on the others home court. Each game featured a pace of play that favored the victor of each game.

The Raiders won the first meeting at Detroit on January 25th, 64-62. The slower, defensive minded battle took away Detroit's athleticism and Wright St. pulled out the victory. Five days later was a different story and Detroit was able to run up and down the court and put up an 83-76 victory.

The other second round game featured the #4 seed University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix using a last second three-point shot to defeat the #5 seed University of Illinois-Chicago, 64-63. The Phoenix will now play the #1 seed Valparaiso Crusaders Saturday night.

The championship game of the tournament will be played at the home court of the highest remaining seed.
