The University of Detroit Titans (20-12, 12-4 Horizon) have made it to the postseason for the second straight season when the 2013 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) bracket was announced Sunday night.
While most Titan fans would have preferred a trip to the NCAA tournament, the NIT is the next best option. The Titans were awarded a #6 seed and will travel to Arizona State (22-12, 9-9 Pac-12) to take on the #3 seeded Sun Devils on Wednesday, March 20th at 10 PM EST.
This is the fourth all-time match-up between the Titans and the Sun Devils, with Arizona State holding a 2-1 edge. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Baylor vs. Long Beach State match up. The full bracket can be viewed here.
The Titans finished their season with a 20-12 record but lost to Wright State in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals. Valparaiso won the Horizon League Tournament and was awarded the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They will play against Michigan State in the first round.
