Titanic 100th anniversary victim memorial

RMS Titanic sank 100 years ago on the 14th-15th of April 2012. Several memorials are being readied to mark this anniversary. There are memorial cruises that will stop at the spot where the great ship sank. Memorials in Ireland, England and Canada, will be held to allow people to grieve and remember that horrible time in history.

Titanic was built in Belfast Ireland using men who each had an expertise important to the task. Welders, construction workers, architects, painters, steel workers, all gathered together each work day to build the behemoth known as Titanic.

When the ship sank, many Irish neighborhoods lost the bread winners of their families. Most streets had at least one or two men who went down with the ship on that fateful night.

While most of us will not be able to attend any of these memorials, in this cyber-age we can still participate in our own way.

Several times a week I will post the names of victims. If every reader could 'adopt' one victim to memorialize on this anniversary, we can engage in a world wide memorial.

There are over 1,500 people to remember so it would require a lot of Titanic buffs to make sure no victim is left out. If anyone wants to adopt more than one victim, that's great.

The goal of this memorial is to organize and flood the internet with the names of the victims. Use Twitter, Facebook, Examiner and whatever website that will allow you to post on their blogs.

Along with names, I will start gathering websites that want to participate. They will be listed in this column when they are secured.

Leave your twitter handle in the comments or message it to me @vegasfilmreview

Terra has been interested in the tragedy of the "Titanic" since childhood. Along with having a nautical family member, many hours have been spent reading and watching everything on the "ship of dreams."
