Electronic Arts confirmed during an investor conference call Tuesday that Respawn Entertainment's hybrid mech and first-person shooter will never appear on the Playstation 4 or Playstation 3.
The game was originally announced as a Microsoft exclusive but many assumed that it would be a timed exclusive and show up on Sony's console at a later date. Respawn Entertainment explained that the exclusivity was due to the studio being a start-up and needing narrow focus. However, founder Vince Zampella revealed that the permanent exclusivity is something new.
"Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup," Zampella wrote on Twitter. "EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently."
For now though, there is hope that the PS4 will receive the TitanFall sequel.
"Of course we will, just not the first Titanfall," Zampella responded to a fan when asked about future Respawn Entertainment titles.
TitanFall is currently set for a March 11, 2014 launch on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
