Fans across the country gathered at storefronts to lay hands on a copy of the Respawn Entertainment game: Titanfall. The game launched at midnight on Monday and many gamers queued up their PC's or in lines at shops to land a physical copy for the Xbox One (the Xbox 360 version will be released later this month). However, that enthusiasm inevitable led to the servers for the online-only game to waver and crash early in the night.
Gamers took to outlets such as Facebook and Twitter to voice their outrage at being unable to join in public lobbies or even create private servers to play on. The delays on fans actually accessing the game grew to about 2-3 hours for some. Jon Shiring, a developer from Respawn, took to Twitter to let players know that the company was aware of the problems and were working to fix it.
Around 11 p.m. PST Shiring confirmed that the team had issued a patch to help with PC connectivity issues, with some players being able to get into private servers more effectively. However, problems still remained with Xbox One having spotty match connectivity, as well as some players unable to enter matchmaking when using a Belkin router to connect (according to the official Titanfall twitter feed).
Titanfall was boasted to be utilizing Microsoft's cloud servers to stabilize online play on a massive scale. While they may have faltered out of the gate, time will only tell on how quickly these issues will be rectified.
