Tonight marks the start of something special - the start of college football! Along with crazy rivalries and fevered team spirit comes the wonderful tradition of tailgating. We've put together some amazing menus suggestions and other tips to make your tailgating party the must be place for this season.
Tailgating menus have evolved from the hot dog/hamburger, chips and beer fare to be sophisticated, fun and simple. Check out some of our top choices!
Southwestern fare - include chicken or beef mini enchiladas, southwestern shrimp tacos served up with rice and beans and ice cold margaritas and Corona. The hotter the better! And best of all, this can be pre-made and kept warm in the crock pot or with a simple sterno and chafing dish setup.
Down home southern fare - honey barbecue chicken wings, pulled pork sliders, deviled eggs and homemade potato salad. Add sweet tea or a mojito and you'll be set for a sweet southern party. Remember keep the hot foods hot and more importantly the cold foods cold!
Easy, peasy fare with flare - pre-made muffulettas with sweet potato fries, sweet coleslaw served up with delicious cajun lemonade. Add a condiment bar to complete this set up as well as a fun shot bar to add a little something to the lemonade to finish off this party!
Don't forget the dessert! As the game goes on, bring out the desserts - simple cupcakes, s'mores, pralines, even apple pie a'la mode.
Keep is super simple. This less you have, the less there is to pack.
Check that you have enough fuel sources to last the game - propane, charcoal, sterno, electrical outlets.
Do bring a plastic table cloth. It will make clean up super easy. And don't forget the trash bags. Remember, what you bring in has to be taken back out.
Keep the ice for the food separate from the ice used in drinks.
Water, water, water.
Have a container of hand wipes available to keep things clean.
Bring some ziploc bags to put the dirty serving spoons and other items to keep the mess to a minimum.
