Do you wake up with more creases and furrows on your face than you had before you went to bed? Then you’re a good candidate for the new JuveRest Sleep Wrinkle Pillow. While not yet tested, a recent release sent to this LA Beauty Products Examiner made it sound worth the $180 splurge. Read on.
The multi-patented beauty product was created by a plastic surgeon, Goesel Anson, MD, FACS, to help prevent and reduce wrinkles caused by recurring facial compression during sleep. It features a unique contoured shape specifically designed to minimize facial contact with the pillow, a common cause of facial wrinkles while providing proper head and neck support in both the back and side sleeping positions.
"I see sleep wrinkles every day in my practice," said Dr. Anson, who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery of the face. "My patients are often surprised to learn there are two types of wrinkles on their faces: those caused by expression and those caused by facial distortion from pillow contact during sleep," she said.
“Considering that most people spend approximately one-third of their lives sleeping, those who sleep on their sides or stomach will most likely develop sleep wrinkles, which deepen over time and the only way to avoid sleep wrinkles is to stop sleeping on your face," Dr. Anson continued
Dr. Anson's take on sleep wrinkles:
- Sleep wrinkles are different from expression wrinkles and caused by compression of the face during sleep.
- On a traditional pillow compression of the face during sleep causes facial skin to be stretched, pushed and pulled all night long.
- Side and stomach sleepers are most likely to develop sleep wrinkles which worsen over time due to repetition.
- The only way to prevent sleep wrinkles is to change the way you sleep.
