Have you ever wondered how those that are cheerful stay that way? Does it come naturally or do they work at it? Happiness is a mindset.
It takes 21 days to change a habit, so start by seeing your glass as being half full. Make a conscious effort to stay positive throughout your day by repeating only positive comments in your mind. As silly as it sounds, your mind is an open book led by what you feed it, so repeat things to help change your perception. For example, "I Am" statements are very effective. I am happy to be working, I am blessed to be financially solvent, I am happy to be home with my family. You will find that as you repeat your daily affirmations you will begin to feel differently.
Stay positive. Negative self talk has to be avoided and replaced with positive, happy thoughts. Smile when you answer the phone and that smile is obvious on the other end. Practice smiling at passers-by on the street and say hello. They may or may not respond but a smile is a sure bet to feeling happier.
Laugh often. Laugh at yourself, cartoons, the movie you are watching or with someone else. Laughter is contagious, and goes a long ways toward feeling happier. You can't help but feel happy when you laugh so laugh daily!
