Tips to naturally moisturize hair & skin and what’s new

Heavy oils and certain butters, mineral oil and petroleum jelly can weigh down hair and block the pores of your skin, and block moisture just as build up and dirt does. Avocado, Olive or Coconut Oil can help carry oils and butters through your skin and the cuticle (outer layer) to the hair's cortex (inner layer) and help water to retain/attach to inner layer of skin. This is why it is usually recommended that you leave some water on your skin after bathing or showering before applying a cream or oil to your skin to lock in the moisture.

Concerned about your hair’s moisture retention?

Moisturizing Your Hair using the L.O.C or L.O.L.C.B (liquid, oil, cream/liquid oil, leave in, cream, butters) a scientific method that seems to work best for many if not all but especially African American textures and Mixed-race textured hair. This method has the balance of water, oil and good cream to hydrate, stick/retain and seal all at once. You can create your own LOC solution for example: water, castor or black castor oil, coconut and/or olive oil and my favorite Jojoba oil and Almond oil with the addition of Aloe juice/gel.

Concerned about your skin’s moisture retention?

Moisturizing Your Skin using products without petrochemicals and oils that block pores only makes sense. What do you think? Today’s natural and organic scientists/researchers/formulators are constantly developing better natural alternatives to these above ingredients. Although many of us have used these, and psychologically professed that they’ve worked, it’s not altogether true. They may have shielded us from external toxins and debris and worked as a waterproof barrier but do not add or enhance our skin’s needs to become and remain healthy.

Some New Natural Good Stuff on the Market for Skin Care Regimen:

· A newly natural alternative to petroleum jelly is Waxelene. Contrary to petroleum jelly, Waxelene does not clog pores, does not contain petrochemicals-no petroleum, and it benefits the skin.
