Most of us this time of year are thinking about spring cleaning and getting our home and gardens ready for the coming nice weather. This includes recycling those unwanted containers, boxes, bottles and cans. Fort Worth has one of the easiest and most convenient programs; all it takes is remembering to fill the blue recycling cart with the correct items.

Kitchen

Recycling is easy in every room of your home, however, the kitchen is the most popular. There are recycling container items like plastic soda bottles, empty metal food cans and boxes, soda cans, cereal boxes, empty pizza delivery boxes, aluminum food containers and all types of paper products.

Now think beyond the Kitchen:

Bathroom

Empty shampoo and conditioner bottles, toilet paper tubes, empty liquid soap containers and empty makeup containers made from glass or plastic. Hair spray cans, cotton-tip cans and boxes and empty plastic pill bottles round out the list of bathroom recycling items.

Utility room

Empty plastic cleaning containers, liquid soap containers and all types of cardboard, boxes or otherwise…even those empty cat litter boxes.

Living room and office

Old newspapers and magazines, paperback books and junk mail. Desktop cleaning materials cans and discarded paper towels. And don’t forget those leftover empty beverage bottles and cans.

Visit the Fort Worth Recycling site for a complete list of items that are “recycling allowed.”
