Tips to ensure a positive and safe gel manicure experience

Let’s face it, despite the safety concerns; ladies love the gel manicure for its durability, affordability and infrequent maintenance. With all of the media attention surrounding the UV lamp used to cure the gel nail polish and improper removal methods, further personal research was conducted and additional information gathered for readers that will continue to receive gel manicures.

A gel manicure can be a rewarding experience, when done correctly. As a matter of fact, they can actually assist in growing the nails when a cuticle oil is applied daily after receiving a gel manicure. The chip resistant polish protects the nails from the elements allowing for nail growth.

Simply utilizing white UV protectant gloves and/or sunblock can assuage the controversy over the UV lamp or patronize a salon that uses the alternative LED lamp when receiving a gel manicure.

Additionally, improper removal of the gel nail polish has grown in communities where continuing to be educated in the beauty field is minimal, for example, nail salons that behave like a factory rather than a customer service industry. After soaking, the gel nail polish should crumble to the touch, and never have to be removed with a metal instrument. CND Shellac has also created a Nourishing Remover to use instead of acetone to safely remove Shellac, gel nail polish, lacquer, wraps, tips and adhesives from the nails.

The CND Shellac Nourishing Remover is a viable alternative for all nail salons wanting to address the gel manicure safety concerns of clientele who love the service, but may have had a poor experience from an unknowledgeable technician. Ask your favorite nail salon if they carry it.
