October 3, 2013

Now that fall is officially upon us it's time to get wardrobe ready for fall. When it comes to transitioning your summer wardrobe to fall storing away your entire summer wardrobe is unnecessary. Some of your summer pieces such as skirts, denim and tops will work with your fall wardrobe by simply adding key pieces.

First, I suggest that you separate all light weight and summer print garments including shoes. Again, items such as denim jackets and jeans, t-shirts and skirts (and dresses) can be used in your fall wardrobe. Next, check your wardrobe for our top 10 key pieces for fall. If you do not have these key pieces it's time to go shopping.

Top 10 Key Pieces for Fall: 1.Scarves (light and heavy knit) 2.Blazers (or suite jackets) 3.Knit Sweaters 4.Opaque Tights 5.Cropped Jackets 6.Trench Coat 7.Leather Jacket 8.Leggings 9.Cardigans 10.Slim-Fit Pants (casual or dress)

When shopping for your fall key pieces make sure to try them on to assure that the shape and cut will compliment your body type. I advise this to keep you from buying something that looks great on the hanger (or mannequin) but when you get home it's frumpy or simply does not work for your body type. Make sure to add great statement pieces such as gorgeous structured jewelry to add just the right umph to keep your bold fall looks from looking drab.

Find a fab selection of these key pieces in the DMV at Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks, JCPenney, Forever 21 and Marshalls (or TJ Maxx).
