If playing Cupid on Valentine's Day requires you to travel the friendly skies, TSA offers you tips to get through the airport security checkpoints hassle free. Traveling with food and gifts and getting them through the checkpoints can be less challenging if you plan ahead and follow the rules laid out by transportation security.
Tips are as follows:
While wrapped gifts in your carry on luggage is not prohibited. Any gifts that sets off alarms will have to be unwrapped and checked. It is recommend that you wrap your gift after your flight or ship them ahead of time.
If you’re carrying gift baskets that contain lotions, oils, and soaps through the checkpoint, they must adhere to the 3-1-1 liquid guidelines. Perfume and/or cologne bottles 3.4 ounces and smaller are permitted in your carry-on bag as long as they are placed in the baggie per the 3-1-1 liquid guidelines. Larger bottles may be packed in your checked baggage.
Although chocolates, regular and liquid filled are okay, flowers can only be brought on without any water filled containers.
Gifts that are purchased at the airport after your security check have already pre-screened and allowed on the plane.
For the most up-to-date airport security information it is recommended that airline passengers get the MY TSA mobile application with 24/7 access.
