Tips on making grooming easier on you pet

Whether you want to take your fur baby to a groomer or to learn how to do it yourself there are a few things to make this process easier for your pet.

Speak calmly to your pet, even if it suits you to make up a song for them just to keep the calm for them, constantly praise them and tell them good things. Use a happy voice and not a command voice.

Be hands on every day with your pet. Look inside the mouth touch the ears and even tail, so that way your pet will be less likely to bite you or the groomer. Get him/her used to the utensils you may need to use, (brush, comb, blow dryer, tooth brush) let them sniff them and check them out.

If have no experience in grooming, you may need to make very small decisions while you get the hang of it and to make sure you do not hurt your pet by accident. There are video tutorials you can find from YouTube.

When you take your pet to a groomer and they come back to you a little shaken up, try to do some more hands on with your pet and go for another appointment. If there is no improvement, seek another groomer and if they come back happy then maybe that would be a place you want to keep coming back to.
