Haven’t been out to see the Christmas lights yet? Check out the 9th Street Hill (link) luminaria display. While you are out, check out Christmas on Greenview. This elaborate set up rivals any of the residential displays anywhere in the country and brings visitors from far and near (link). Frankfort Park has its Holiday Lights display (link). A donation is requested for charity.

If you plan on ice skating, check with Riverside Skating Rink before heading out (link) as warm weather may mean a temporary closing.

Flooding: With the snow melt and rain, be aware there may be flooding along the Wabash Heritage Trail and trails 3&4 at Prophetstown SP.

Dec. 20-22: Linden Depot, noon -7 p.m. This is the last weekend to visit for the season (link). Go see the custom made 10’ tall Nutcracker! This year, a donation of 10$ gets you a Christmas ornament of the Nutcracker while supplies last). Close to home, this great little museum features some awesome train layouts and Monon memorabilia. Need Christmas gifts? They have small gift shop with a great variety of items (and prices). Museum fees are waived for this special event. (They will accept donations though.)

Dec. 21: Wolf Park Christmas party. 1-4 p.m. Postponed from last week. Come out and visit Santa and enjoy the wolves as they receive treats. This year Santa and his elves will arrive on the Purdue Boilermaker Special Train. Kids can help put the treats on the wolves/foxes treat tree at 1 p.m. While there, browse the gift shop for gifts. Clothing, educational games and toys as well as unique animal themed everyday items are available. Family friendly, fee charged (link).

In the Indy area:

Now through Jan. 19: Jingle Rails at Eiteljorg Museum is a perennial favorite. The O scale layout features trains leaving downtown Indy headed out west. Western national parks are their destination, and scale models of those parks’ famous features are part of the layout. Admission to the museum includes the Jingle Rails exhibit (link).
