Oct. 16: Wednesdays in the Wild, Fall Colors Walk, 1-3 p.m. Meet at Clegg’s Botanical Gardens (link) for this program. Jim Peterson, longtime grounds manager, teams up with Sally Weeks, tree/shrub expert on Purdue staff, to guide folks on this property. Many of the vines are sporting brilliant color, other trees at Clegg’s are in various stages of change. A number of plant communities are present on this deeply ravined property on the Wildcat Creek. Have your questions ready for Jim about the history of the gardens and the choice of plants. Sally will answer your questions on the trees and shrubs on site.
Oct. 17: Early Bird Hike. 8 a.m., Celery Bog. Meet at the gravel parking lot. Barny Dunning of Sycamore Audubon Society leads this informal weekly walk.
Oct. 17: RIP Squad work day. 3-5 p.m. at Ross Hills County Park (link). Meet at the parking lot closest to the house. Dress for the outdoors, bring loppers and work gloves to remove invasive plants. INPAWS (link) sponsors this volunteer effort to help Tippecanoe County Parks Dept.
