Tippecanoe County outdoor happenings: Jan. 19-20

Jan. 19: Winter Wolves, Wolf Park, 1-5 p.m. This special program is an opportunity to see the wolves in their winter coats. With something for everyone, the days has lots of activities. Games, kids’ artwork contest and an update on wolves in the wild. Expect to see the wolves very active in the winter temps. Many summer visitors see the wolves napping in the shade during this period. Current weather forecast is for the 40’s during the day, but if you get chilled, warm drinks will be available. Jan. 19-20: Riverside Skating Rink. Normal winter schedule is in effect (link). Since the weekend weather reports call for afternoon temps in the 40’s, layered clothing is advised. Family friendly, fee charged. Skate rental available.

Weekend:

Murdock Hill: Currently there is no snow on the hill. With temps in the 40's the city won't be making snow.

Hiking conditions: The River (gage link) is coming down, but is still high and sections of the Wabash Heritage Trail are under water. Burnett Creek section of the Wabash Heritage Trail should be done with caution as the creek crossings are still difficult. The downtown section of the trail, especially the higher paved sections are clear. Eagle sightings on that section are very possible.
