The RIP Squad is up and running again. INPAWS (link) sponsors this volunteer group to help clean up area parks that are being overrun by non-native plants, giving room for native plants to grow. This is a great volunteer opportunity. Contact Patty Rader e-mail: for the schedule and details. For all RIP Squad activities: bring gloves and dress for poison ivy.

April 28: INPAWS (link) meeting, 7 p.m., Lilly Nature Center. Program: Identifying IN Flowers using the Web, Apps, & PDFs. One of the leading wildflower experts, Kay Yatskievych, (link) will do this program. She is the author of the excellent book, Field Guide to Indiana Wildflowers. She will be discussing a new Indiana ID program.

April 28: Willow ID workshop at Martell Forest Wright Center, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.(link) Sally Weeks will lead this workshop. This workshop will include both an indoor and outdoor portion. Meet at Martell and later the workshop will shift to the Purdue Wildlife Area.

April 29: Coloring the World Happy, Audubon (link) Junior Nature Club, 6-7:30 p.m. Lilly Nature Center. This group is for 5/6th grade students. Contack Ms. Zonda Bryant 765-366-9126

April 29: RIP Squad, 3-5 p.m., Michaud-Sinninger Woods. This is part of Cumberland Park. Park in the corner near the baseball field.

April 30: Wednesdays in the wild. Wildflower hike at Wright Rock Creek, 1-3 p.m. Good opportunity to see this beautiful NICHES property (link). The terrain is similar to Big Pine and Portland Arch.You can meet at noon at Celery Bog to carpool, or just show up at the property.

May 1: RIP Squad, 3-5 p.m., Ross Hills. Meet at the back loop of the park.

May 2: Wildflower Walk at Clegg’s Gardens, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sally Weeks and Bob Easter will lead this hike through one of the newest NICHES (link) properties. Watch for the native wildflowers in abundance there.
