Sept. 11: A Walk in the Woods with a Forester, 1-3 p.m., Martell Forest (link). This Wednesdays in the Wild program will be lead by Extension Forester Lenny Farlee. Indiana has a lot of wood lots and stands of trees that undergo harvesting. Lenny will have an interactive program on harvesting decisions as well as the process of judging inventory, sample soils and measuring trees for board feet dimensions. Dress for hike in the woods.
Sept. 12: Sycamore Audubon Society (link) program, 7:15 p.m., Lilly Nature Center in Celery Bog. This is an invitational program for those interested in joining or learning about SAS. Bring a 5-10 minute presentation of photos. Show up at 6 p.m. with a covered dish to share a carry-in dinner.

Sept. 13: Wabash River Fall Sampling Blitz, 2:30 -5 p.m. Check in with Wabash River Enhancement Corp. (link) for particulars on this event. Pre-register to volunteer (link) singles and groups are welcome, ideal for kids needing service hours.
Sept. 14: Master Gardeners (link) will sponsor a public education workshop from 9 a.m. to noon. Lynn Layden will talk about Lasagna Gardenting. And Jody Tichman (from Soilmaker) will talk on compost, how, why and what to do with the end product. This will be held at the Tippecanoe County Extension Office on US 52, just past the mall (link).
Sept. 14: Sugar Creek clean –up, NICHES Bachner Nature Preserve (link), 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Contact NICHES to let them know whether you will be going.
Sept. 14: Kankakee Sands (link) seed harvest, 9 a.m. to noon Chicago time. Dress for the outdoors, no fleece clothing as fleece collects seeds.
