Tiny the Spider and Fright Fest at Six Flags Gurnee for October

Six Flags Great America Fright Fest in Gurnee, Illinois returns October 2, 2010 and runs weekends through October. The popular amusement park in the Chicago area winds up the season with the Halloween themed Fright Fest. 2010 brings the return of several Fright Fest classics, including the award-winning show Love at First Fright, Susan Rosen the world-renowned hypnotist , walk-through area Necropolis,  haunted house Mausoleum of Terror and scare-free children zone areas including the Character Candy Trail. A new attraction at Fright Fest is the SAW LIVE Haunted House, according to a September 23, 2010 press release from Six Flags.

Six Flags Great America begins its morph into a shadow-land of ghosts and ghouls to celebrate its 20th season of Fright Fest.  The transformation to turn the theme park into a ‘scary 'scream park’ is underway with over 2,000 corn stalks, 7 tons of pumpkins, 300 bales of hay, 200 pounds of blood-red dye, 200 monsters, dozens of corpses and skeletons, and hundreds of rubber snakes, bats, rats, skulls and body parts.  Fright Fest staples, "Tiny" the famous 200 lb spider makes his return to the side of the America Eagle coaster as the 500 lb inflatable gorilla begins his climb up Sky Trek Tower.

New for 2010 is the SAW LIVE haunted house. SAW is the most successful horror franchise in movie history and it comes to life at Six Flags Great America.  Let the games begin as master manipulator, Jigsaw, tests the nerve of all who enter.  SAW LIVElets visitors come face-to-face with live actors and the iconic traps based on scenes from the SAW films.

Six Flags Great America features Halloween themed Fright Fest during the month of October. Six Flags in Gurnee is open weekends only through October 31, 2010. Fright Fest is open on Friday nights and all-day Saturday and Sunday. Due to the scary nature of the  subject matter, Fright Fest is not appropriate for small children after dark.  After Halloween the park will be closed until spring.
