The Roger Post: "Sex and violence, rolled together in a thoroughly satisfying package."
Diminutive sex-advice powerhouse Dr. Ruth Westheimer was a trained sniper for Israel during their war for independence. This and other little known revelations are at the hear of a new one-woman show about her life, now playing in New York City.
4 feet 7 inches of lethal womanpower
Dr. Ruth told National Geographic, "for some reason that I can't explain I'm a very good sniper. I can put five bullets into this little red circle (makes circle with her fingers). I know how to throw hand grenades..."
The 85-year old grandmother still claims she can “load a Sten automatic rifle in a minute while blindfolded.”
But Westheimer is also quick to point out, "I never killed anybody."
"Becoming Dr. Ruth" now on Off-Broadway in New York
Playing now through January 12, 2014, at the Westside Theatre, 407 West 43rd Street in NYC, the bio-play stars "That 70s Show" mom Debra Jo Rupp. The play, which highlights Dr. Ruth's life from Nazi orphan to Israeli refugee to world renowned sex-therapist, has garnered positive reviews in previous runs.
