Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2012/2013 Winter season- Week 10- February 4th-February 9th
Male
Tino Ayala- Foxcroft- Wrestling - Freshman at 113 pounds with record of 43-3 pinned Nick Hallowell of Calais in the finals of the Eastern Maine "Regional" Championships! He has had an amazing freshman season with his three losses only to Class A State Champ and former Class A State Runner-ups. Tino was also PVC Champion. Ayala and the Ponies will compete in the state championship meet on February 16th. Ayala is the first male to win athlete of the week as a freshman. Delani Bennett from PCHS earned female athlete of the week as a freshman. Ayala is the first wrestler to earn athlete of the week honors.
Runner up
Trevor Fogarty- Dexter- Basketball- Recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in 54-42 victory over Stearns. Recorded 33 points on seven three points, five rebounds and four assists in 62-43 victory over Orono.

Corey Bjornson- Foxcroft- Wrestling- Junior at 195 pounds with Record 25-2 won in the finals vs Malcolm Mitchell Dexter 14-1.
Forrest Law- Foxcroft- Wrestling- Senior 138 pounds with Record 43-5 beat Seth Blais Dexter 5-2.
Wesley Stinson- Foxcroft- Wrestling- Senior 152 pounds with record 18-2 pinned Jeremy Voisine of Ft. Kent in the finals
Todd Francis- Foxcroft- Wrestling- Junior at 160 pounds with Record 35-5 pinned Matt Mower of Dexter in the finals also PVC Champion last week
Corbyn Bruce- Foxcroft-Wrestling- Junior at 182 pounds with Record 30-4 beat Carl Snow in the finals 4-1 also PVC Champion last week.
Caleb Atkinson- Foxcroft- Wrestling- Senior at 285 pounds with Record 21-4 pinned Elijah Susen in the finals.
Alex Sedore - Foxcroft- Wrestling- Senior at 220 pounds with Record 32-4 pinned Chris King.
Brooks Law- Foxcroft- Wrestling- Sophomore 126 pounds with Record 39-2 won 4-2 in the finals vs Zachary Caron of Dexter also PVC Champion Last week.
Griffin Libby- PVHS- Basketball- Scored 25 points in 72-58 victory over Searsport. Scored 16 points in 57-36 loss to Bangor Christian.
Hayden Ciomei- Deer Isle-Stonington- Basketball- Scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in 58-49 victory over Bangor Christian.
Devin Hall- Calais- Basketball- Scored 38 points in 75-44 victory over Calais. Scored 18 points in 51-50 loss to Sumner.
