Tinder Box to close its doors this Saturday

It hasn't been a good month for cigar stores in the Valley, as The Tinder Box in Mesa announced today that it will become the the second cigar store in the Phoenix area to close its doors this Saturday.

Owner Jeff Cayton made the announcement via an email to customers on Wednesday morning, as well as on the store's Facebook page, and the Tinder Box Ahwatukee page.

There wasn't a specific reason given for the store's closure, which comes after nearly 20 years of being a gathering spot for cigar lovers in Mesa. The store is home to a Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge, and Cayton said that those memberships can be transferred to the Ahwatukee location.

In the days leading up to the closure, the store will be offering deals on cigars as well as fixtures and other items in the store. It will shut its doors for good this Saturday, May 31 at 6 pm.

Earlier this month, GoodFellas Cigar Lounge in north Phoenix announced that it would be closing as of May 31, citing lease issues. Mojito Cigar Lounge in Cave Creek also closed in late April, but the owners are working on the launch of a new cigars and coffee concept called Smoke and Joe that is slated to open in the coming weeks.

The Tinder Box is located at 1457 W Southern Ave #110 in Mesa. For more information, you can call (480) 644-9300.
