Tina Maze, rock star on and off the slopes

Tina Maze won the first gold medal in history for Slovenia at the Sochi Olympics on February 12, tying with Dominique Gisin of Switzerland in the Women's Downhill event. Both scored the same time, 1:41.57. Laura Gut of Switzerland won the bronze.

"Maybe just one finger, maybe just a hand — it can change a color of a medal," Maze said. She came in 4th in the Super Combined event a few days ago, just behind Julie Mancuso of the United States.

But, in Slovenia, Tina Maze's career amazes. Her record number 1 single, 'My Way is My Decision,' is the Slovenian equivalent of Katy Perry's 'Roar.' She declares, "I'm a woman on fire...I've gotta be stronger. I've gotta prove I'm a winner" while strumming her skis like a guitar. "I'll never surrender. Gotta prove I'm a contender." Oh, yes, it's auto-tuned.

But, to be fair, Maze does have musical talent. She's played piano since the age of 8. She's a modern girl, listing her influences as Alicia Keys, Jessie J and, of course, Lady Gaga. Maze returns to Slovenia where she already has her own jewelry line in silver. In honor of her victory at the Olympic Games in Sochi, perhaps the line will switch from silver to gold. And perhaps her little hit will become a bigger hit. Check out the video!

Maze isn't the only Olympian with a connection to music. Snowboarder Shaun White plays lead guitar for his band, Bad Things. And LA area native, Kate Hansen, luged her way into 10th place, grooving to Beyonce for her warmups. One of alpine skier Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe's other careers include being a pop star. And pairs skater Eric Radford composed his own short program music.
