Television and film star Tina Lifford, who currently appears in NBC’s Parenthood, will star in “The Circle”, a play she wrote. The show is directed by Shirley Jo Finney, who has won multiple awards for her special talent and eye for storytelling. Tina will be doing the play for two days only (August 25 – 26, 2014) at the Alhambra Theater & Dining. The shows will be performed as a fundraiser to benefit “Generation W”.
Lifford brings together seven women with various cultural backgrounds who wish to be treated better than they have been. Through dramatic, heartbreaking and comedic monologues, the sister circle reaches a pivotal point where the baggage is weighing heavy and it’s time to let go. It’s time for a declaration. “My mission is what I call inner-fitness and what I call inner-fitness is the important development of skills and practices for mental, emotional and spiritual well-being,” explains Lifford, who holds a Master's degree in spiritual psychology. “The Circle” is an extension of my mission which is to bring inner-fitness to life. That means to get people to begin to interact with themselves in a way that acknowledges that they have a worthy self.”
“The Circle” is often referred to as an outlet for women to share life experiences - the ups and the downs, the good, the not-so-good, and the deep sense of relief that comes with having a safe haven. During “The Circle”, the stage will come alive with life-altering stories made up of issues that resonate with women. It is a play about seven women’s lives that will make you think, feel, dream, and be inspired. “The Circle” becomes a safe place for women to share the subjects that impact them, which in turn empowers the audience to think about who they really are. Tina Lifford, Playwright and Executive Producer based “The Circle” on her own experiences as well as those of many women she has encountered throughout her own life.
