Tina Fey says “no way.” She wants no part of hosting any future Oscars ceremonies. The job is just too big, she jokes. “Especially for, like, a woman — the amount of months that would be spent trying on dresses alone ... no way.” The comic stated her objections in an interview, as reported by USA Today on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
All kidding aside, many fans and entertainers alike are calling for a Tina Fey-Amy Poehler combo to host the 2014 Academy Awards. The two comediennes did a fantastic job at the recent Golden Globes, and the pair managed to be funny without offending almost everyone. No male Oscar host has pulled that off in years.
There could be legal problems, since Fey is under contract to NBC. The Oscars are carried on ABC. “No, you can,” Tina Fey says, but it’s still “no way.” Besides many, many costume changes, the job is almost a thankless role. It’s necessary to please everyone, while keeping the length of the show in line. A tough job.
But is there just the tiniest chance that Tina Fey might change her mind? "I wish I could tell you there was."
Okay, so far that would be an answer in the negative. But the year is young, her top-running show has come to an end, and both Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler are hot. That could change a great deal.
