On Tuesday, October 15 The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have signed on to host the Golden Globes for the next two years. The comedy duo was a smash hit when they hosted the awards earlier this year, bringing in over nineteen million viewers. The pair will return to host the awards show in both 2014 and 2015, after claiming they would not host again. Together Poehler and Fey bring in the highest numbers of young adults to the broadcast in six years.
Poehler and Fey both rose to prominence after being cast on "Saturday Night Live," a long running sketch comedy show on which they both appeared for several years. Fey most recently finished a seven year run on the NBC comedy "30 Rock" which she developed and Poehler is currently starring on "Parks and Recreation" also on NBC.
The duo recently positive reviews for their first hosting performance and many people believed they would move on to host the Oscars as well. However, that is no longer an option now that they will return to the Golden Globes. The Oscars is a bigger show for the host in terms of preparation, since it includes pre-taped segments, singing, dancing and lots of rehearsal.
