Timothy Bradley will successfully defend the WBO light welterweight championship against Russian Ruslan Provodnikov tomorrow night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
The 29-year-old Bradley (29-0-0-1, 12 KOs), also a former two-time light welterweight titlist who has trumped solid pugilists Lamont Peterson and Devon Alexander, last fought on June 9 when he unwittingly stole Manny Pacquiao’s crown with a criminally incompetent split decision victory at the MGM Grand Arena in “Sin City.”
Despite the inexplicable scoring by a trio of dimwits, the feathery-fisted Bradley showed heart and grit by continuing to battle Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KOs) with a fractured left foot and severely sprained right ankle sustained during the crooked bout.
Comparatively, the 29-year-old Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KOs), whose only loss as a professional came at the hands of American Mauricio Herrera in January 2011, emerged victorious for the fifth consecutive time by knocking Mexican Jose Reynoso onto Queer Street in the second round of their June 2012 prizefight.
Although only slightly above-average, Bradley is tough and a competent competitor in the ring and the Rooskie will prove to be overmatched.
Hence, expect Timothy Bradley to earn a unanimous decision triumph over the untested Ruslan Provodnikov roughly 24 hours from now.
