Ecclesiastes 3:11-13 (NLT)
Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

Timing is everything. I know we hear it all of the time in the natural but this is true of the supernatural even more so. We have had many roadblocks and obstacles in the last two months concerning our son and the next step in his battle against cancer. We have climbed treacherous peaks and fallen into deep valleys along the way trying desperately to determine what our plan of attack will be. There are many variables so many in fact that today I really cannot tell you what or where his next treatment will be. Where do we begin or where it will end is a mystery to me, but not the Lord. As I have strived to hear His Voice and follow His Lead, it has become apparent that we are in a season of waiting. I despise and loathe such time yet have learned that if I am patient it will pass just like every other season we have endured. At the doctor yesterday, we were there for around three hours leaving with nothing more than a promise for a call the next day. His case is unusual. His cancer although common quite rare in a young person with no risk factors. The doctor scratched his head literally as he spoke with us. Yet it was not a tense environment as one might think. I used to get really keyed up at these appointments and impatient in our wait time. I demanded answers of ordinary people rather than seeing the Hand of God working in our midst. Who laughs at such grave circumstances? People like Sarah who would hear at the end of her life that God’s Promise who arrive in one year. We have been walking this road on the long journey home to health and total healing for well over two years now. Can you imagine “walking” on a treadmill or even around the block for that long without stopping? This is kind of what it is like when faced with such a situation. My daughter mentioned just yesterday that she tried to remember what our life was like before cancer took up residence. I agree that it is difficult to remember that time at all. Every factor of our life has been impacted by the fact our son has faced death four separate times. We rejoice in the fact that he is indeed an overcomer just as the Word of God has promised. This has been an exceptionally long season but one thing holds true as much now as when it began – timing is everything.

I believe now more than ever before as we end this journey of faith it is producing something far greater than just the total and complete healing of our son which the Lord knows would be more than enough for me – yet in every season it is God’s Purpose to provide, protect and prosper His Children. Why? So that in each season our faith in Him will grow and flourish producing confident hope that allows us to achieve our purpose. God’s Purpose for our life is to be victorious and receive every single blessing that He has put our name on. Unfortunately, our fickle hearts struggle to remain true to the Lord when we are required to wait, hang on or not give up. We are people who are given to rebellion. We turn back when the road seems hard, mountain high or valley too low. We would rather be captive to sin and darkness then endure a season of hardship to receive God’s Blessing reserved for the faithful. We cry out that we are weak. But He has promised those who wait will have renewed strength which leads me to believe that it is not the absence of God but the absence of faith in God that limits our potential and alters our outcomes. If timing is everything than I must wait on the Lord as He turns the details in my life (all the details) for my good! (Romans 8:28)

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.

If indeed there is a season for everything and a time for every activity under heaven, it would seem that timing is everything. In order to have the Will of God, one must submit to the Way of God including His Timing. How could God allow His People to go through such terrible tragedies such as cancer? Well the point that I think we miss sometimes is that God did evoke sickness and disease on His People as some form of punishment, but rather we chose it when we decided to love the darkness more than the Light. It is God’s Desire to heal His People hence He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was beaten with severe stripes for our healing and died for our sin so that we could be filled with His Spirit to be identified as God’s Children by faith. Faith makes us inheritors of His Blessing just like Abraham. (Galatians 13:14) But need I remind you, Abraham did not receive His Promise (Isaac) until he was 100 years old. He waited a long time and remained faithful while waiting never wavering from the belief that God would give him that promise. (Romans 4:20) We must learn to produce more faith in the midst of adverse seasons refusing to leave the strong foundation in Christ that we have been given. Even when the season is less than favorable. I have only been waiting on God’s Promise for a little more than two years, I cannot imagine if this season was going to last 98 more. Those who live in covenant with God even when going through difficult times will be blessed – you have His Word on it.

Ezekiel 34:25-31(NLT)
“I will make a covenant of peace with my people and drive away the dangerous animals from the land. Then they will be able to camp safely in the wildest places and sleep in the woods without fear. I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing. The orchards and fields of my people will yield bumper crops, and everyone will live in safety. When I have broken their chains of slavery and rescued them from those who enslaved them, then they will know that I am the LORD. They will no longer be prey for other nations, and wild animals will no longer devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will frighten them. And I will make their land famous for its crops, so my people will never again suffer from famines or the insults of foreign nations. In this way, they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them. And they will know that they, the people of Israel, are my people, says the Sovereign LORD. You are my flock, the sheep of my pasture. You are my people, and I am your God. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”

Faith in Jesus Christ allows us back into right standing with God so now we can live in Covenant with Him once more. This is a covenant of peace. We are no longer at odds with the Lord and as a result have Kingdom rights and responsibilities afforded us called the Favor of God. This does not mean that we live in peaceful surroundings all of the time. In fact, I have found that since giving my heart and life to Jesus Christ that the enemy has waged a full on attack. Literally, all hell has broken loose in our life. Yet in all things we overcome through Jesus Christ. But if I fear the enemy rather than fearing God, I will succumb in such circumstances as I have nothing valid to stand on or shield me from such an attack. The Word of God is my foundation. Faith in the Lord is my shield. God will give those who take such a stand peace that passes all understanding that does not require a change in the atmosphere to have confident hope but simply the Word of God and faith. (Philippians 4:6-7) Such peace does not come from situations and circumstances in life, but the Presence of God in our body.

Isaiah 61:1-3 (NLT)
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.

God addresses the seasons of life in the promise of His Spirit. When you asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, you were automatically given His Spirit. The Spirit identifies you as a Child of God. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) The Spirit guarantees God’s Presence in every season of your life making every promise possible by faith to those who choose to believe. (2 Corinthians 5:5) The only thing standing between you and your blessing is – you! God has prepared many promises marked just for you. It is His Purpose for you to have those promises including provision, protection and prosperity. He blesses each season according to our faithfulness which means it doesn’t matter what season we are in – it is logical to believe that we will be blessed. (Leviticus 26:3-10) The problem is that when the going gets tough most believers get up and go – right back to their old life or fall back into normal behavior of griping, complaining, rebelling and running from the Lord rather than clinging to Jesus Christ through the storm. God has planned for you to prosper in every season. (Psalm 1:2-3) Timing is everything. You will not have your blessing if you do not endure because timing is everything. Those who make it the end are saved so God uses our everyday life to teach us the art of endurance that leads to His Greatest Blessing of all – salvation. (Matthew 24:13) How do I know that God is with me? How can I be sure that all things are working together for my good?

Romans 8:25-28 (NLT)
But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.) And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

God did not send His Son so that we would struggle and strive through this life but that we would thrive by faith in confident hope receiving every promise that He has planned and prepared for us. The Holy Spirit is here to help us in our weakness. I must admit there have been days along this journey that I have cried out to the Lord how will any good come from this and He has been faithful throughout to give me peace in exchange for each petition. He has given me patience and persistence that has come through long waits that required endurance not because He is mean, unyielding or merciless but rather because of His Compassion, Kindness and Mercy that wants the very best for me! God loves me. He loves my son. He is passionately devoted to the promise that He has made us. He is working out every detail not for survival or to just make it but for good! I would have settled for so much less if given the opportunity just to see this hardship pass over my child leaving him untouched. But God had other plans, He wanted to touch us and our lives in a much more dramatic and satisfactory way then we would allow. The Spirit prays and pleads God’s Will for our life all the while sewing His Word carefully in our hearts so that we learn to endure. The Lord wants so much more for us then we desire for ourselves. He has all along from the very beginning.

Psalm 90:1-2 (NLT)
Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.

From the beginning of time throughout all eternity, He is God. He was there before you and will be with you forever. This is difficult to comprehend in our humanity with the limited perspective that we have but if you look ahead – God is with there. If you look to the left or right – He is there, too. If you look behind you – you got it, the Lord is with you bringing up the rear. He is even living on the inside of you. God is everywhere. He desires to be everything to His People. From beginning to end, the Lord wants you to have eternal life. (Revelation 2:7) He longs to give us resurrection life. (Revelation 2:11) He has an abundance and a new beginning reserved just for you. (Revelation 2:17) He has authority that belongs to you. (Revelation 2:26) The Lord has reserved a place for you in His Presence for all time. (Revelation 3:12) The Name of Jesus Christ is hope that includes a future according to His Plan. (Matthew 12:20; Jeremiah 29:11) The Lord promises to make all things new and those who are victorious will inherit these blessings. So what do you have to do to be victorious – nothing at all but wait on the Lord! Those who endure to the end are saved and will find Jesus waiting with the Promise that they long for. Timing is everything! He is everything! You can count on Jesus for He is our only hope!

Psalm 139:1-7 (NLT)
O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!

Friend, I cannot convince you that God is working out every detail in your life for good. This is a revelation of the heart of each person when the Spirit and the Word come together by faith to produce confident hope. I can testify that in every season that we have gone through He has been faith to provide, protect and prosper us. In a conversation with our son’s nurse yesterday, we were talking about the craziness of the circumstances that we have faced recently. She is a believer, too. I told her that God had impressed upon my heart that timing is everything so we can wait for Him to open the doors for our son’s next treatment. See I do not want an escape or release from this season, I want to see God’s Promise come to pass so I will wait on the Lord. Won’t you wait with me for your promise? If God has put it in your heart, it is available and well worth having so we will wait for His Season because after all timing is everything!

Galatians 3:7-9 (NLT)
The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God. What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would declare the Gentiles to be righteous because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.” So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.
