From a secret location, the Times Square bomber was brought to federal court in New York City for 10 minutes. 

Faisal Shahzad spoke one word, confirming that he had no financial means. 

Each day, he had signed a form relinquishing the right to an attorney, continuing his cooperation with investigators  (William Rashbaum, Benjamin Weiser, NY Times, 5/18/10, A21).
