We know that time exists. Everything we do is based on time. We cannot see time, smell time, or touch time. But we must consider: Where did time come from? What is the purpose of time for man? Why can"t we stop time? These questions seem redundant, but they are not, because we are not in control of time. Time was created for a purpose. According to the Bible, time was created by God in the beginning. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). The Creation account and time are inseparable. But man has tried to solve the mystery of time for generations. Even Albert Einstein with his Theory of Relativity (which is only a mathematical calculation of time) has not solved this mystery. Time can only be calculated by mathematical equations and the use of instruments to measure it (sundial, hourglass, clocks, watches, etc.).

Everything we do is based on time, such as work, sleeping, travel, and many other activities that we do in a day. Time here on Earth is based on the rotation of the Earth on its axis and its travel around the sun. Time here on Earth is different from that of our moon and the other planets in our solar system.

Ecclesiastes chapter three verses one through eleven gives man a purpose of time on earth. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die: a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted : A time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to breakdown, and a time to buildup. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. What profit hath he that worketh in that he laboureth? I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. He hath made everything beautiful in his time; also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end"(KJV).

The time God has created will one day cease to exist (Revelation 10:6). Eternity will begin. Jesus said, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, which was and which is to come, the Almighty" (Revelation 1:8). Are you ready! For the time is at hand!
