National cable company Time Warner Cable, operating in almost 27 states in the United States, is asking its New York City (NYC) subscribers for help in a new ad campaign.
According to Daily World Buzz, the Time Warner Cable ad is "asking all its NYC customers to show their support for the company in its negotiation with network programming providers to prevent raises in rates the company would have to pay for carrier rights." Subscribers' access to The Weather Channel, F/X, Food Network and HGTV would be affected.
If it succeeds, the effort started by Time Warner Cable NYC could have positive consequences for cable consumers in all states. As the company states in its website according to the above cited article, "“We’re just one company, but there are millions of you. Together, we just might be able to make a difference in what America pays for its favorite entertainment.”
In Florida, the Time Warner Cable division was bought by Comcast. Both companies bought cable company Adelphia together in 2006.
