Time traveling 'Turkeys' gets November 2013 release, adds Amy Poehler

The upcoming animated film Turkeys will be arriving in theaters just in time for Thanksgiving this fall, instead of in 2014. Comingsoon.net reported on Friday, Feb. 22 that the animated film would receive a theatrical release on November 1, 2013 which is two weeks shy of a year earlier than previously scheduled. Actress Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) has also joined the cast of the comedy film, and will voice the female lead.

Turkeys will follow two turkeys who travel back in time to the first Thanksgiving to change the fate of turkeys forever. Jake (Woody Harrelson) and Reggie (Owen Wilson) are complete opposites but stumble upon a government lab with a time machine inside. The turkeys decide to work together to ensure that turkey stays off the menu by traveling back in time.

Directed by Jimmy Hayward, the screenplay was developed by Craig Mazin (Scary Movie 4), John J. Strauss (The Wild), and David I. Stern (Open Season 3). Check out the Facebook page for more information. The Reel FX and Relativity Media film will open in theaters on November 1, 2013.
