Sandal season is upon us ladies and that means one thing; time to get your feet presentable! We tend to neglect our feet in the winter months because they're completely covered up and nobody really sees them but its time to get ready to expose them to world again. Nobody likes to see or even have ugly feet so now is the time to invest is a few products to get the toesies on point.

First things first, not every nail file and emery board is the same. A .99 cent emery board will do no justice to feet that have been neglected all winter. You want a nice even look to your nails so invest in a glass emery board. A glass emery board is best for brittle nails and will give you a nice clean even look. Try the Swissco Emery Glass Nail File sold at Sally Beauty stores. Toe nails should always be filed straight across and in one direction to avoid breakage.

Next thing you need to do is get a square block buffer and a glossing buffer. This is great to buff your nail to get rid of any discoloration on your nails from old nail polish that has stained your nails. Also any bumps or ridges that you have on your nails you can eliminate and smooth down with the buffer. Once you’re satisfied with the results use the glossing buffer to give your nails a glass like finish without painting your nails. Try a four way nail block from The Body Shop.

Don't forget the hard skin on your heels and sides of your toes. The best way to take care of this is to do it when your feet are dry and not wet. When your feet are wet its hard to tell which parts of your heel needs to be filed down versus the soft areas and you can accidentally cause your heels to split which can lead to cuts and infections. If there is a lot of area or the skin is really tough your best option is to let a professional take care of the hard areas. To reduce hard areas in the future or if its minimal use a crystal foot file and use soft strokes towards the the underneath of your foot. Try a Crystal Foot File from YogaToes & YogaHands.

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Just as you exfoliate your skin to make it glow, you need to exfoliate your feet as well to get rid off any dry flaky skin. Not only does exfoliating revive tired feet but all cleans the cuticles and make your feet feel soft. A quick DIY exfoliator is coarse sea salt massaged gently into your feet or you can purchase Foot Works Exfoliating Bar Soap from Avon.

Last but not least oil instead of lotioning your feet. Oils absorb better and quicker into the skin and will leave the skin feeling just as soft, just without the sticky heaviness of regular creams and lotions. Some oils like emu oils also contain anti inflammatory properties which are great for your feet after a long day out in the sun. Try Tea Tree Oil Spray with Emu Oil from Silky's Garden.
