Opinion:
Dianne Feinstein has promised to introduce her bill banning assault weapons on Jan. 3, 2013, which will be the first day of the 2013 Congress. Many believe her plan is to turn America into a gun free zone, except for police and military. She claims in her online diatribe that she only wants to restrict “automatic and semi-automatic” weapons, but she has a much deeper dream about gun control, many believe.
So, On Thursday, Feinstein will introduce her amazing bill, that she says will save oh so many lives. Please don’t laugh too hard! The legislation she will introduce includes proposals for the re-registration of currently owned firearms and to have all citizens who own firearms submit fingerprints, even if they have never committed a crime that required fingerprinting. The bill also includes a so called buyback plan that will allow the federal government to confiscate all firearms of those who refuse to comply.
Currently, Feinstein and others think that anyone who owns a gun is a criminal, or at least that is what their representation of this bill seems to be. Too many times lately, the police, the courts, and government in general have made pre-determinations about someone’s guilt. In other words we have become guilty until proven innocent, instead of the other way around.
But there is some hope! It is called the Constitution. Yes, it too is under attack, but we still (for a while) have the right to vote. It is not about left or right, Republican or Democrat, Christian or non-Christian, black or white, male or female, young or old, it is all about our rights and common sense. Gun ownership is guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution! It has been since the time of Thomas Jefferson.
Voting is only one of the ways we can deal the whackos in Congress that believe they are holier than thou, better than everyone else, and can solve all the ills of this country and more, by stealing your Constitutional rights. Other ways are to call your Senator’s, and your Representative's in the House, email them, send them a letter or fax to them about how you feel regarding this kind of legislation. Please, don’t say anything stupid, but be blunt. Stupidity will only get you arrested. Use common sense!
