Time for promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Bob Arum to shine!

The promoters are getting ready to take center stage for the Mayweather - Marquez and Pacquiao - Cotto fights.

These happen to be the most powerful promoters in the world today so it is worth looking in on their upcoming mega fights.

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya is just two weeks out from his September 19 card and if he has a promotion - saving quote inside of him, similar to a come from behind knock out punch, he better throw it pretty soon.

Rival promoter Bob Arum has his final press tour starting off in New York City Thursday, and virtually assured of a live - gate sellout and huge pay - per - view audience, seems to be in a more enviable position of going through the motions.

De La Hoya said this, according to Ben Thompson at fighthype.com, "We're at 90% tickets sold."

Let's analyze this comment. What? The host hotel is making all kinds of special offers. Usually reliable casino and ticket sources say the fight is deep under water.

Arum recently is told NY Examiner Michael Marley that Cotto is training like a wild animal already.

"On November 14 you will see the best possible Miguel Cotto," said Arum.

Arum obviously has to make Cotto seem viable but those words are less than encouraging.

But Arum's job isn't as hard as De La Hoya's. This is ironic because Mayweather vs. Marquez may be the more competitive fight.

Watch the showmanship between Arum and De La Hoya. Arum has so much more experience than De La Hoya in all aspects of the promotion game but it's interesting to watch.

You know the one to blame for the poor tickets of Marquez vs Mayweather is Mayweather himself!! People are boycotting this fight including myself because Mayweather said he is the cash cow & PPV King so he wont accept 50/50 to fight Pac. If he does bad PPV numbers then he will accept the 50/50 split. Thats what all the Pacfans are thinkin in Pacland. So Mayweather 4 Million Filipino Americans would have watched your fight if you had only said the right things. To Bad So Sad!!!hehehehe And I forgot the other millions of worldwide fans too!! Mayweather caused the bad tickets Dela Hoya should have beat the senses out of him!!!

Yea Mayweather should have kept his mouth shut about Pac. And He would have made 20 more million dollars. Your loudmouth caused you a fortune Mayweather!!! You deserve it!!!

I know 20 of my friends who are boycotting this fight. Anyway it will be very boring!!! People in the theaters bring a pillow or get ready to ask for a refund or switch movies!! hehehe I picture a mass of people leaving the theaters. To bad you cant ask for your money back on PPV!!!

Allot of my hardcore boxing fan friends are not interested in the JMM mayweather bout. Even me, I actually had planned vacation comes Sept 19.. inshort, allot of us are not interested in the marquez-maywaeather bout. I'm not boycotting, the fight itself seems boring.

!@#$$%^&? i don't understand why mayweather-marquez on PPV? why not on a regular boxing show?

Mayweather: You offended the Pacquiao Army. You can atone for your sin by agreeing to a 60/40 sharing of proceeds in a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

Pac fans now waiting for the result of the Loudmouth PPV buys...Pac fans world wide wishes the loudmouth to eat his ego and pride, admit or maybe make an excuse for the poor ticket sales and PPV buys...the CRUSH COW is dead!!!! no where to hide...cant hide from the reality...

Manny always fights the best, the bigger one, and had fights that Manny was the underdog but Floyd is the opposite, he fights the fight that hes the sure winner like this coming Sept 19. The world knows this thats why Manny is so loved by the world..

Mayweather should have a small dose of humility injected into his system. Those who believe that mayweather is a cash cow is a fool as he proclaimed he is.

Mayweather is making you like a fool if you believe him. He is underestimating the I.Q of boxing fans.

    PBF vs. JMM MORE COMPETITIVE?

    IN TERMS OF WHAT ????????????????????????????????

WELL...IN TERMS OF ADVANTAGES FOR FLOYD AND DISADVANTAGES FOR

    MARQUEZ MAYBE.....

  • are you brain damaged? 2 years ago

Stolow more investigation please before you write as other writers and journalists are painting a very different scenario than what you are alleging. Pac Cotto tickets almost sold out within 2 days while JMM-Floyd is still festering till now. What buzz have you heard about the Numero Uno fight except the fly inside Mayweathers head and the controvertial urine drinking of Juanma? Marquez/mayweather is as exciting as watching your toenail grow......kindly restudy what yo've wrote.

  • china_boy 2 years ago

leelunatic, I have the same question. Why would this writer think that Mayweather vs Marquez will be a more competetive fight than Cotto vs. Pacquiao? Mayweather and Marquez are both counter punchers while Cotto and Pacquiao are boxer punchers...I don't see any logic why the writer thinks that way...I have another question to the writer. How much did GBP pay you?

Mayweather the cash cow? PPV king? Guys save your money for Nov. 14 where you'll get your money's worth and not this Sept. 19 boring fight. Mayweather will crash and burn and face reality that's he's the cash cow hahaha
