Time for holiday shopping in Albuquerque

If you've missed the Weems Artfest - opener of the holiday shopping season and my personal favorite- there's weeks more filled with opportunities.

Here's a couple to get you started.

Native Heritage Art Market at the Hotel Albuquerque

This is their first ever Native Heritage Art Market and it will feature handmade art by many of the top American Indian artists. The show is open to the public free of charge and will be held at the Hotel Albuquerque near the historic Old Town Plaza on Thanksgiving weekend: Friday, November 25 3:00-7:00pm, Saturday, November 26th 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, November 27, 2011 10:00am to 2:00pm.

All participating artists are part of recognized tribes or dertified as Indian artisans by an Indian tribe.

The market will also feature artist demonstrations, cultural performances, collector workshops and special youth activities. The public will have an opportunity to purchase stunning jewelry, pottery, paintings, sculpture, carvings and more directly from these artists, as well as from other top Native artists, and to gain an appreciation for IACA and its artistic heritage.
