Now that Democrats have needlessly (and illegally) destroyed the free market health care system that 84% of us were happy with, we have only 4 options left before things get ugly:
1) Vote them out in 2010. This option requires much patience and will not actually mean anything unless those elected actually reverse all the spending, bailouts and takeovers.
Most likely, Democrats will be punished for a few years while Republicans ride the tidal wave of public outrage into office, at which point they will throw us some symbolic scraps from the table, rather than making a serious commitment to uprooting federal tyranny.
2) Legal challenge in the courts. There is a chance that the Supreme Court could reverse parts of this law based on the "Commerce Clause" debate (a few states being bribed and blackmailed into submission at the expense of all the others).
3) Nullification. This is where states stand up for their 10th Amendment rights and declare that, since this law is blatantly unconstitutional, they refuse to acknowledge that it was even passed.
And no, the Founders never intended for the federal government to be the sole determiner of the size and scope of its own power. State nullification was always intended as a natural check against federal encroachments.
If the federal government defies a legitimate nullification action, which it will, then this could lead into a secessionist movement. And as I have noted, the majority of states have already introduced some form of sovereignty movement.
4) Civil (or un-civil) disobedience. For this not to backfire, it requires numbers, coordination and legitimacy in the eyes of the people. ObamaCare will offer many such opportunities (people being denied health care, punished for not buying insurance, etc.).
As government needlessly destroys the one industry we have left that still works and replaces it with more than a hundred new federal bureaucracies that will control and manipulate every aspect of our lives (while exempting themselves, of course), we have to ask ourselves how far we are willing to go to defend our republic (and our economy) from such extreme tyranny.
It is, after all, our republic.
Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence that when government becomes adversarial to the interests of The People, it is both the right and the responsibility of The People to rise up and "alter or abolish" that government.
The Founders revolted over taxation without representation, and after Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts...and all the polls, and Democrats still having to openly bribe and blackmail their own super-majority into voting for this treason, I would say we are pretty much there.
It is time to step up and take back what is ours. Hopefully, this can still be done peacefully.

"Hopefully, this can still be done peacefully." LOL! You Tea Party types are always so strong in your language. Bring on the revolution, Robert!
Given the fact that our voices have and continue to be ignored, I have little to no faith whatsoever, that there can be any negotiating that will bring about any positive changes. That being said, it also should be very clear that there is but only one option available to us if we have any hope of saving the value, the soul and well being of our country. In fact it just might be too late given what has just transpired. But, I feel Thomas Jefferson said it best, and that my friends, may very well be our only option available.
Thanks and I reposted on my facebook. Very well written. Thanks for encouraging us with broken hearts and spirits.
I vote for all 4 options, this must not stand, this unconstitutional power grab by the communist left must be turned back!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Wingnut poutrage is music to my ears. More please.
Conservatives and Republicans today suffered their most crushing legislative defeat since the 1960s.
Its hard to exaggerate the magnitude of the disaster. Conservatives may cheer themselves that theyll compensate for todays expected vote with a big win in the November 2010 elections. But:
(1) Its a good bet that conservatives are over-optimistic about November by then the economy will have improved and the immediate goodies in the healthcare bill will be reaching key voting blocs.
(2) So what? Legislative majorities come and go. This healthcare bill is forever. A win in November is very poor compensation for this debacle now.
So far, I think a lot of conservatives will agree with me. Now comes the hard lesson:
A huge part of the blame for todays disaster attaches to conservatives and Republicans ourselves.
If I might suggest option 5.
A very large Tea Party rally at the Pentagon to peacefully and respectfully request that they honor their oath to the Constitution.
4 viable options. We'll try the peacefull options first
Tyranny, used in discussing systems of democracy and majority rule, is a scenario in which decisions made by a majority under that system would place that majority's interests so far above a dissenting individual's interest that the individual would be actively oppressed, just like the oppression by tyrants. This is why people not much unlike ourselves wrote the Constitution. Not to guarantee our rights but to limit those "we" grant to Government. We do not have to be a Supreme Court Justice to know that Health Care is not a RIGHT..... it is a good and a service. This does not mean we do not want people to be taken care of.... it just means we want to do it ourselves. Most people have no idea what the difference between individual rights and community rights are. To many people think we get our rights from the Constitution.... NO....We get our rights from GOD and "we the people" wrote the Constitution to spell out what Government can and cannot do.
WATB: "Wingnut poutrage is music to my ears. More please."
Interesting logic. Those fighting to save the Constitution have the overwhelming majority of Americans behind them, yet liberals--who are in the minority (the ACTUAL extremists)--constantly smear them as the fringe.
Way to think it through.
Democrats can not be trusted any longer, nullification, and the snuffing of the democrat party!
Tom: "Hopefully, this can still be done peacefully." LOL! You Tea Party types are always so strong in your language. Bring on the revolution, Robert!"
Be careful what you wish for. The cities would burn down and the rest of us would be fine. And liberal weenies like you blogging from their mothers' basements would never survive.
It would be a massive purging of imbeciles from our society.
Thankyou for your thoughtful and intelligent reprise for what has gone down in Washington. Although we all feel a little beaten down and disparaged, we have to gain a new purpose and strength in this, and realize, thanks to the above arthuor, that we HAVE OPTIONS. Time to hunker down, re-evaluate, and put our voices and $ behind a larger group that WE can power and a voice to. Seperate....we are one voice. Together, we are one nation.
THIS IS A SAD DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY. THIS COUNTRY IS MOVING AS FAST AS IT CAN TOWARDS THE LEFT OR SOCIALIST WAY WHICH IS NOT THE AMERICAN WAY.. WE MUST TAKE DRASTIC MEASURES NOW!!! NO TIME FOR POLITICS...
The Democrats just committed political suicide. Plus the Republicans have been placed on warning. We are coming to Washington and WE the people have the names of puffed up politicians who believe themselves great as their policy proves they are fools. Overthrow corruption NOW
Remember me? Election day. In the Constitution. The Democrats won both houses of Congress and the Presidency. The majority of the American electorate voted for healthcare reform and the Democratic Party delivered.
Why do you hate the American system of government?
November,
Sorry, but every one of these BS talking points have already been corrected:

Next.
When I don't like reality I just ignore it. When the majority of Americans do not agree with me I pretend that they are meanies who won't play fair. Now go away because it is time to have a tea party with my echo chamber patriots. Tonights agenda consists of being sore losers. Oh wait, that has been the agenda since 11/4/2008. If we keep practicing we will be the best sore losers ever. One lump or two?
It is a sad day in America and are founders are rolling over in they're graves. We will try the peaceful options first but i do not see them working. In the end the succession will be all that's left, for those of you that know your history the civil war was started over states rights not slavery. The north only brought that out as a rally point and it worked. and now we are back in the same boat. I pray for this country i love so much, but now it is time for the people to remind government who they work for! "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." (Thomas Jefferson)
We spoke--you did not listen!
We wrote--you did not read!
We protested--you ignored us!
Now we will say goodbye to you in November! That's OUR change that WE can believe in!
well with 38 states sueing option 5 is constitutional ammendment forbidding this crap. They have the numbers now of the willing just need state votes and a constitutional convention. In this case I believe it could happen quickly as the states have everything to gain and nothing to loose as they are saddled with these unconstitutional mandates which are unfunded and will collapse states economies.
It's time for a tax revolt. They can't fund this or any of their other pork projects if we don't pay for it. Those who receive paychecks should increase their W4 exemptions to reduce their withholding. Those of us who have to pay quarterly....well, I'm sending $1 each quarter. Why let them have our money interest-free? If enough of us, reduce the withholding, we will in effect cut up Congress' credit card. I'm not advocating not paying taxes...just pay it when it's due...April 15th. I think we should go to every IRS office as well, and dump their blank tax forms at their door steps...like they dumped tea in the Boston harbor.

Ron,
A constitutional amendment is more than two years away from even being possible, and even then it is HIGHLY unlikely. And I think they got the Constitution right the first time. I would be horrified to think what RINOs and liberals would create should it come to a constitutional convention at this point.
If conservatives had worthwhile leadership, our Constitution would not be getting trampled right now.
No bill is forever. All legislation can be repealed. But I kind of prefer the not so civil disobedience.
Robert - Might surprise you to learn that I'm doing quite fine right here in the heartland. But thanks for the concern. Go ahead and bring on the Tea Party revolution...if you can get more than a few thousand people to show up for it that is!
What the democrats have done for our country: Social Security; Medicare-Medicaid; Peace Corps; unemployment insurance; welfare (for the poor and corporate, yes some take advantage of it but there are people who really need it.) (corporations and the wealthy take advantage of our government too); civil rights; student grant and loan programs; safety laws (OSHA); environmental laws; prevailing wage laws; right to collective bargaining (which brought about paid medical insurance, paid vacations, pensions, etc.); workers' compensation; Marshall Plan; flood-disaster insurance; School Lunch Program; women's rights.
Fair Labor Standards Act, which established a minimum wage, instituted child labor laws, and set up time-and-a-half pay for over a 40-hour week.
FHA-HUD with its public housing, urban renewal and 44 million residential homes (before WWII almost 70 percent of our nation were renters; by the 1970s this had been reversed).
And farm-conservation subsidies -- USDA program
What democrats have for our country: Farmers Home Administration (the bankers didn't want to make rural loans), small flood-control lakes (more than 3,000 in Oklahoma alone), rural water districts, rural electricity (REA).
The GI Bill was passed, which the Republicans at the time bitterly opposed. They were salivating over millions of returning veterans to hire as cheap labor. More than 8 million have used college benefits, creating millions of entrepreneurs; most of us had never dreamed of college. For the unemployed GI, there was $20 a week for 52 weeks to help get started (a lot of money in those days). The Veterans Administration provided more than 2 million home loans.
For the bankers the liberals saved their industry with the creation of FDIC and FSLIC, insuring their deposits, and saved Wall Street with the establishment of the Securities Exchange Commission.
The oil men came on bended knees to FDR at a time when East Texas oil was 4 cents a barrel and begged him to save their industry. He did; prorationing overturned the rule of capture and the days of flush production were over. Prorating has served this great industry (and nation) well.
Also, to all gun owners: When have the democrats ever taken away your gun rights? The answer is never, just some common sense gun laws is all. And as far as healthcare the military has government run healthcare and it has been doing fine since 1951
The republicans have done nothing for the blue collar working man because they are for the wealthy, big corporations: Insurance, Oil and Drug companies. George W. Bush is on video saying: "Welcome my haves and have mores". I can't understand why anyone making under 250k a year would vote republican. The republicans also run on the same issues over and over again: Guns, Taxes, Big government, Abortion, Family Values, but they fail to do anything about it and do not practice what they preach.
When the Republicans had absolute control of the house and senate the first six years G.W. Bush was in office, gun laws did not change, taxes were only lowered for the 1% most wealthy, the government did not shrink, and abortion was not made illegal. (I believe if one of Bush's daughters would have got pregnant from being rape they would have had an abortion). Also for anyone against abortion; What do you suggest we do with all the unwanted children? Maybe you should start adopting, and if you do adopt, not rely on government to help you raise the adopted child, and for the children who don't get adopted they can just live in foster homes feel unwanted and be supported by your tax dollars.
What it boils down to is this: the liberals dragged you into the 20th century scratching and screaming with your heels in the mud, fighting anything that's progressive, everything that's made this country great. You Republicans have never understood that the spending power of blue-collar workers, obtained through Democrats and unions, is what really made this country great. You really believe "The Good Life" was obtained from your own endeavors. You cloak your greed in religion and patriotism, railing against any form of tax, never comprehending that these programs have benefitted all of us and our country." Most of you are: Closed minded, self centered, narcissist, pretentious, pompous, greedy, materialistic, and have very little compassion and understanding of others.
Passage of HC "reform" despite the strong, persistent opposition of the majority of the people is OUTRAGEOUS! Obama,Pelosi and Reid are experts in Chicago-style politics (aka CORRUPTION & COERCION.) Democrats claim that starting this NEW ENTITLEMENT program with huge Medicare cuts and new taxes can save Medicare or cut the deficit and help the economy. HOGWASH! Hoover raised taxes in a recession, turning it into the "Great Depression." Hold on, America. We are in for some even tougher times!
THIS IS WHY we need to start a national campain to start calling for a Constutional convention. Stop giving money to any other cause or campain and just trying to go directly to the public with a massive media campain to call for a convention.
Unless the people rise up, and amend the Constitution the country is doomed. There are only TWO things that need to be done to fix the Federal Government.
Close these two loopholes: 1) Close the general welfare loophole, 90% of what the federal government does beyond the 10th amendment uses this excuse. 2) Close the definition of interstate commerce. This is the other huge loophole used for the federal expansion.
You close those TWO loopholes, and nearly everything the federal government does that should have been limited in the Constitution would be eliminated.
Jim, you are full of it. Because our gun rights have been taken! The second amendment doesn't say you can own guns "if" you have a FOID card, the second amendment doesn't say you can only own the guns the gun hating socialist liberals want you to have. You should ask yourself, why are the cities with the most restrictive gun laws the places with the most gun crimes?? The difference between you liberals and the rest of us is that you think the U.S. constitution is toilet paper, we see it for what it is, the supreme law of the land! Ignoring the Constitution like you do, just isn't an option for us. You Dictator Obama socialists are liberty thieves, get ready for a war because we are going to fight for our freedom and U.S. Constitution.
You see, we know like the founding fathers knew.... gun owners are citizens, those without guns rights are subjects.
Jim,
"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." -John Adams-
The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.
Patrick Henry
We have been restrained and had our freedom taken by despots!
Jim, stopping trying to limit opinions, remember the first amendment. It's the liberal socialists way to tell everyone what opinions are acceptable! We know the playbook you are using!
"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum."
Noam Chomsky
1) Activist judges don't care about the Rule of Law 2) Civil Unrest provides Obama with the power to declare Martial Law like in Third World countries and possibly suspend the Constitution; 3) Numbers is what counts & supporting those who are filing lawsuits to repeal ObamaCare like: a) Heritage Foundation; b) Thomas More Law Center; 3) Mark Levin, attorney, radio talk show host; 4) Jay Sekulow; ACLJ; 5) www.gop.gov (Fire Pelosi); The Continental Congress; 6) Support state attorney generals
If we want to lower "health care" costs why don't we start with things like breaking up the AMA monopoly and making prescription drugs over-the-counter?
All I can say is give me liberty or give me death. I will not be told what to spend MY money on. If the Federal Government wants to arrest me for that, they had better not come alone to do it. That is not a threat, that is a promise.
Patriot, With all the things I pointed out you can only disagree with the gun issue. I think it is good you could only find one thing negative because that tells me you know as well as I Democrats have done more for the people of this country than Republicans. I am not saying everything Democrats have done was the best but read my other post and you can see they have done alot more good. What have the Republicans done for us? The republicans run on the same issues over and over again: Guns, Taxes, Big government, Abortion, Family Values, but they fail to do anything about it and do not practice what they preach. Even when they had six years of power they did nothing! They suck you in with thier fear mongering and rhetoric (like fox news) to get your vote and do nothing except cater to military contractors, insurance, oil, drug companies and wall street. You are nothing to them if you make less than 200k a year.
Uhh, why blame Obama when Cheney/Bush have already handed the country over to China?
Under the Cheney/Bush regime, the US went from budget surpluses to budget deficits and ever higher national debt - w/ the Chinese holding the most US paper until they sold a huge chunk of it last year.
Using China as a cheap source of $$ was how Cheney/Bush financed the real estate boom/bubble (and the resulting crash, which was made many times worse by the banks and other financial institutions leveraging themselves to the hilt) and the Iraq War which has cost us almost $750 BILLION dollars already (and likely cost over a Trillion).
Do you even think before you post, or do you let pill poppin Rush and crazy lunatic Beck do all your thinking for you?
Republicans call the healthcare bill socialism.
Is Social Security not Socialism ?
Is Free Public education not Socialism ?
Is Medicare not Socialism ?
Republicans want:
No Social Security
No Public Education
No Regulated Banking
No Medicare
No Healthcare
No Regulations for Wall Street
No Regulations for Insurance
No Tax to the Rich who make wealth by plunder of the poor and middle class
No Regulation of private business, all free trade
Propagandist One,
Wrong. REPUBLICANS are largely big government moderates, rather than big government leftists. It's a matter of destroying America at 25 MPH under Republicans or at 125 MPH under Democrats.
And yes, CONSERVATIVES believe in following the Constitution, as radical as that may seem to ACTUAL, LIBERAL extremists here.
Additionally, ZERO regulation is not the goal. Please ditch the BS smears.
MINIMAL regulation--regulation that actually COMPLIES with the 10th Amendment--is the goal.
Jim: "Uhh, why blame Obama when Cheney/Bush have already handed the country over to China?"
Uhh, because Obama has quadrupled the national debt in less than a year, all on borrowed money from China (far more than Bush), hence it was OBAMA that actually handed away the country.
Jim: "Under the Cheney/Bush regime, the US went from budget surpluses to budget deficits and ever higher national debt."
Democrats benefitted from the tech boom they had nothing to do with and then destroyed it with tax hikes (the reason Bush inherited an economy in decline).
Additionally, Democrat policy failures like 9/11 and the two wars it necessitated was expensive to clean up after. Don't support time-disproven liberal idiocy if you want the economy to do better.
Jim: "Using China as a cheap source of $$ was how Cheney/Bush financed the real estate boom/bubble (and the resulting crash..."
Resulting? Interesting theory of causation. Democrats create a culture of unaccountable lending by forcing banks to lower their lending standards and threatening to drag them into court and have them fined and branded as racists if they don't make enough bad loans to unqualified people...and Bush borrowing a fraction as much money from China as Obama CAUSED the housing market collapse?
By the way, it was Bush who went to Congress 17 times over 8 years trying to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac...and Democrats who blocked anything and everything along party lines while raiding them for campaign contributions as they destroyed the economy.
Please stop lying.
Jim: "the Iraq War which has cost us almost $750 BILLION dollars already (and likely cost over a Trillion)."
Again, Democrat policy failures are expensive to clean up after. Stop voting Democrat if you don't want such problems.
Jim: "Do you even think before you post?"
Ditto.
