Tim Tebow cancels appearance at First Baptist Dallas megachurch

Tim Tebow announced today via twitter that he’s cancelled an April 28 speaking engagement at the First Baptist Dallas megachurch after “new information” about the church had been brought to his attention, according to The Huffington Post.

While he didn’t specify exactly what the new information was, many gather that it has to with the fact that the church’s senior pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress, is an outspoken gay basher who also has extreme stands dealing with Islam and Mormonism.

Jeffress is on record as saying that Islamists and Mormons are heretics "from the pit of hell."

He was also quoted as saying that:

... gay soldiers should not serve in the military because so many homosexuals have AIDS, and that gay activists are trying to "hide the link between homosexuality and pedophilia."

Tim Tebow's statement”

While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance.

I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!
