Tim Tebow anti-gay church rumors are stemming from a speech he is about to make. Tebow will be appearing at a First Baptist Church on April 28 to give a speech. According to a report from Saturday (Feb. 16), though, the church reportedly has a pastor who has "spoken out against Muslims, Jews, Mormons and members of the LGBT community."
This sounds like a public relations nightmare for Tebow, making his decision to appear as a special guest of the church very questionable. The Dallas church is led by Evangelical pastor Robert Jeffress, someone who has not held his opinions in check on the president either. In the last election, Jeffress had stated that his re-election would "lead to the rise of the Antichrist." His public opinions on homosexuality have been just as crass, leading to a lot of negative buzz on the internet.
Now many people want to know what exactly Tebow plans to talk about at this church and whether he is going to fall in line with the preaching that has been taught there. Having Tim Tebow at an anti-gay church sure isn't going to help his public image either, especially when his stock has fallen so far after a really rough season with the New York Jets. Any comments that he makes during this speech could likely become sound bites that will either help or hinder his popularity as well.
As this speech gets closer to taking place in April, there is likely to be a very increased buzz surrounding his appearance. That could be a really bad thing if he is just starting out with a new NFL team after the upcoming draft takes place. At that point, Tim Tebow's involvement with an anti-gay church could certainly turn into a huge problem for his future endorsements.
