Tim Schafer announces 'Costume Quest 2'

Tim Schafer's Costume Quest was originally released back in 2010, and stands as possibly the best Halloween game ever made. No other title captured the pure, childlike wonder of the spooky holiday quite like this candy-collecting RPG. Double Fine and indie publisher Midnight Games announced earlier today that they will be teaming up to bring fans a full-fledged sequel, which is expected to release in time for this year's Halloween.

A whole new trick-or-treating adventure awaits, this Halloween

Today's announcement came as a bit of a surprise, as we haven't heard anything from this franchise since the “Grubbins on Ice” DLC was released a few years ago. Fans are already showing their excitement, though Costume Quest 2 is still a bit of a mystery. We can assume that some of the characters and battle mechanics from the first game will make a return, but today's video didn't actually leave us with any details. However, Midnight City assures us that there will be more costumes, more quests and more candy than ever before. We'll have more information about this title as it develops.
