The best advice on enjoying nightlife in a budget-wise manner I can give is: OPM (other people’s money).
Short of that, it’s always a good idea to keep things short and simple. In and out. Make the rounds, throw around some high fives, take in the energy, and move on. Always leave them wanting more. Leave on a high note. And so on.
A healthy appetite for new, fresh, and constantly changing stimuli is key in forgetting that what really turns you into a pumpkin – is the bottom of your cash pile. All that and of course no cover.
Recently brought to my attention is just such a short blast of nightlife awesome. Tim Pyles, of FM 94/9 fame, hosts a monthly music showcase at Maryjane’s inside the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.
Maryjane’s Underground comes around monthly, is free, and is quick. Two bands, two hours, and done. Just short enough to get you amped for the rest of the night and to keep from making any silly mistakes like ordering up a bottle of vodka and a case of Red Bulls.
This coming Thursday, February 16, Maryjane’s Underground features The Paragraphs and Trouble in the Wind along with $4.20 drink specials all night long. All night I’m led to believe means all the way from 10pm and up to Midnight when the music stops, which is alright as you’ll already be on your way to the next installment of random stimuli, palms still stinging from all those high fives.
