Tim McGraw opened up about his sobriety during his interview with PEOPLE Magazine. On Jan. 30, the magazine posted pieces of their latest issue online and featured McGraw's story of success with the world. Tim has been sober for 5 years and he says that he turned to weight training and exercise -- which was certainly a better hobby than hitting the bottle.
"I drank a lot from my point of view and I needed to stop. I felt quitting was something I needed to do. I didn't feel I had any moral high ground with my kids in the long run," McGraw explained.
Tim McGraw's sobriety isn't something that a lot of people are familiar with. In fact, many fans didn't know that he had an alcohol problem until he uncovered it during this interview. Either way, he is doing much better now and he feels that changing his life was the best decision he could have made. Now he's looking forward to going on tour and he's feeling great.
"Working out is a great way to go out on stage. When I hit the stage, my adrenaline is going and I'm ready," Tim said. "I'm in a good place right now. I really feel like this new album is not a culmination of the things I've done, it's a new beginning of the things I am going to do.
Tim McGraw chose sobriety and many would agree that it was a good decision. "I want to enjoy my career and having my family. I have a busy life, but it is a fulfilling life," he concluded.
