Tim McGraw's swat: Rep says woman ripped his pants before his smack on her head

Tim McGraw's slap seen 'round the world may not have been quite what many thought, at least if his publicist is to be believed. TMZ originally posted the video of McGraw smacking a concert attendee on the head, on Thursday, and fans seem quite mixed on what they think of this one. Did the woman's initial actions justify his reaction?

The incident happened at Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta, Georgia. According to Tim McGraw's rep, per E! Online, a fan had grabbed onto his pants and wouldn't let go as he tried to move through the crowd. The rep says that he “instinctively swatted to try to keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!),” as he was trying to connect with other fans before the show ended.

The rep goes on to say that McGraw didn't know who had grabbed his pants and he swatted at her to try to keep her from tearing his jeans. TMZ has posted a couple of different versions of the incident, and most would say it's a bit tough to see exactly what happened. It is clear that the country singer swatted at her, and she was immediately escorted out of the area by security. It is a bit tricky to see just what she was doing prior to being swatted at though.

The incident during his encore has people a bit divided over whether he crossed a line. Most would say that if indeed the woman grabbed his pants, as it seems she did, she got herself into that mix of trouble. There are plenty, though, who think he reacted more harshly than he should have. What is your take on the Tim McGraw slapping incident from the Atlanta concert?

While the swatting incident is the one garnering headlines now, earlier in the night McGraw had fans swooning when he brought a young fan onto the stage and sang “You Are So Beautiful” to her. It seems this was a Tim McGraw concert filled with highs and lows, that much is clear.
