Tim Lincecum's new haircut could be shocking to San Francisco Giants fans. Typically Lincecum's haircuts in the past have been to show off his long hair, but he has gone for a much shorter style in preparation for the 2013 MLB season. According to a report from Friday (Feb. 8), Lincecum was looking for something different. With his trademark long hair now gone, he might have to reintroduce himself to fans that had grown used to it.
Speaking about his new look, Lincecum stated that "There is really no motivation outside of just, I wanted something different. Usually I take six months in between each haircut just because I was lazy. It's kind of nice to have something to upkeep.'' It's certainly possible that after the extremely rough year on the mound last season that Lincecum was just trying to get a fresh start.
In what turned out to be another World Series winning season for the Giants, Lincecum posted some of the worst numbers of his career. He would finish the season with a 10-15 record, a 5.18 ERA, and only 186 innings pitched. All of these numbers are very uncharacteristic of how well Lincecum has pitched in the past. The year before, he had a 2.74 ERA that ranked among the leaders in the National League.
As San Francisco Giants fans start watching Spring Training games this season, the new Tim Lincecum haircut is definitely going to be something that is noticed right away.
